Anxiety Can Feel Overwhelming
"Do you feel like no matter how much you do, it’s never enough?"
You push yourself at work, at home, in your relationships, yet that nagging voice inside says you should be doing more, or doing it better. Instead of celebrating what you’ve accomplished, you feel weighed down by guilt and pressure.
"Are you exhausted from carrying it all on your own?"
The appointments, the planning, the meals, the work deadlines, the emotional support for family or friends. It all adds up, and it’s heavy. You might look like you’re holding everything together, but inside you feel completely drained.
"Do your thoughts race at night when all you want is peace?"
When your head hits the pillow, your thoughts start running. You replay conversations, worry about what might go wrong tomorrow, and second-guess decisions from the day. No matter how tired your body feels, your mind refuses to switch off.
If this feels familiar....
... you don’t need to keep pushing through your day, hoping another cup of coffee, a late-night glass of wine, or endless scrolling will finally calm your nerves.
You need real tools that help you feel grounded and steady in the moment.
You need lasting support and strategies that actually help you take back control of your life.
How Counselling for Anxiety Can Help
Anxiety counselling gives you a space to understand your worry, rather than fight it alone. Together, we’ll explore what triggers your anxiety and practice strategies to manage it in the moment. Using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and trauma-informed care, you’ll learn how to:
- Recognize anxious thought patterns and shift them.
- Calm your body’s stress response.
- Heal the deeper roots of anxiety, not just the surface symptoms.
- Build resilience and confidence in daily life.
With the right support, the transformation is possible:
- from feeling constantly overwhelmed to navigating challenges with clarity, peace, and strength.
Understanding Anxiety
Anxiety isn’t a weakness, it’s your body’s way of signalling that something deeper needs attention. While symptoms like panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, and constant worry feel overwhelming, they are often just the surface of a bigger story. Anxiety is usually a symptom, not the root cause.
In therapy, we don’t just treat the anxiety, we look at what’s underneath: past trauma, ongoing stress, or unmet emotional needs. With guidance and practical tools, you can uncover these roots and learn healthier ways to cope, so anxiety no longer controls your life.
You Don’t Have to Face This Alone
Anxiety counselling can help you find relief and create lasting change. Whether you’re in Red Deer or anywhere in Alberta through online therapy, I’m here to walk alongside you with practical tools and compassionate support.

Frequently Asked Questions
I use a trauma-informed approach that integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness. All are highly effective and evidence-based therapy forms for treating anxiety. Together, we explore the patterns of thought, emotion, and behaviour that keep anxiety in place and learn how to respond differently. This process helps you better understand your triggers, build self-compassion, and create new ways of coping that bring calm and confidence into your daily life.
The total duration of therapy varies greatly for each person, as it depends on the severity of the anxiety and your specific goals. However, many clients report a noticeable reduction in their most disruptive symptoms and begin to feel better-equipped to manage their anxiety after 6 to 10 weekly sessions. We will continually evaluate your progress to ensure we are meeting your needs and goals.
You don’t have to wait until things feel unmanageable to seek help. If anxiety is affecting your sleep, relationships, work, focus, or ability to enjoy life, counselling can be a supportive next step. Therapy provides a safe space to understand what’s driving your anxiety and to learn tools to manage it effectively, whether your symptoms feel mild or overwhelming.
